- 1879 Abbott Francis Pfanner first went to Dunbrody in the Cape Region
of South Africa.
- 1882 Pfanner constructed the first Trappist monastery and named it
Mariannhill.
- The goal of Mariannhill was: "Better fields, better homes
, better hearts."
- Bernard Huss
- 1885 CPS was established.
- In 1909 Mariannhill became an independent mission congregation.
- 1996 PLMC was established in response to the desire of the laity to
participate in mission activity in Africa, Europe, Korea, Papua New
Guinea and the Americas.
